Christmas Decorations around the Home There was a time, not too long ago when you walked into a home during the Christmas holiday and there was a Christmas tree with red and green bulbs, a garland with some holly berries on the fireplace and perhaps a holiday cookie jar on the kitchen counter.
While all of that was pretty, it was, in no uncertain terms, boring. Today, people are thinking outside of the box when it comes to Christmas decorations and they are adding special and unique touches that give their guests the element of surprise. Who says that you have to play it safe when decorating for the holidays?
This is the one time of the year when you can let all of your creative juices flow and fill your home with sparkle and pizzazz without people wondering, “What on earth was she thinking?” The sky is the limit during the holidays, so have some fun with your decorating!
When it comes to the holidays, the main focal point of a room is generally the Christmas tree. Normally the tree is full of ornaments collected from the past, round ball ornaments, tinsel and lights. Sure, this tree will look pretty, but why not give it a little more “oomph”? Look at the décor in the room where your tree is; is there a particular color theme or something that precisely defines the room? Maybe you have a western-type room with Navajo chairs and a wagon wheel mounted on the wall.
Take that theme and go with it on your tree! Fill your tree with ornaments pertaining to the western theme. You could use horseshoes, cowboy boots, cactus plants and horses. To finish it off, cut strips of a red bandana up and tie them onto the ends of the branches to give them a fun, finished look. Around the base of the tree, instead of a normal tree skirt, wrap some burlap around the tree instead.
Your room will have such a completed look if you use a little imagination and go with the color and theme of your every day room. Christmas decorations do not have to be all red and green. Have a little fun with your look!
